Call of Duty 4 Inventory Items
Ever wonder how in the world some players call down them air strikes or helicopters in multiplayer matches? Well whether you have or haven't, this information should prove useful to you. Below is a list of the various items that can be unlocked in multiplayer matches in Call of Duty 4.
UAV
The UAV is unlocked after 3 kills in a row without dying. When this inventory item is activated a bar will sweep across the mini map, exposing any enemies are red dots. These dots will gradually fade until the next scan occurs, and there is generally ~5s between scans. Multiple UAVs can be activated at one time, but there really is no point to it. Better to wait until your teammate's UAV is finished before activating yours.
Air Strike
An air strike is made available after 5 kills in a row without dying, and will replace the UAV in your inventory if you achieved the UAV that life. For example, in your first life in a round, you get 6 kills in a row without dieing. When you respawn after your death, you will have one air strike in your inventory, and no UAV. But, if you get 4 kills in your first life, die and then get 5 kills in a row, you will have one air strike and one UAV in your inventory. When you activate an air strike, a blown up mini map will appear on your screen (you will be unable to move and able to be killed, so its best to pick a concealed spot to choose your air strike) and you can move a cross hair around to choose where to call in the planes. It is often useful to ask your team if anyone has a UAV to activate, so you know exactly where your strike will be most effective.

Helicopter
Helicopters are achieved only after receiving 7 straight kills in one life, and will replace an air strike if it was achieved in that life. When you call in a helicopter, you do not need to choose where it will go, as the helicopter will patrol the entire map until it is shot down, or it will leave by itself after [x] minutes.
