The following guide outlines the main quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Escape From Prison:
You must follow the secret escape route to escape the prison.
- Walk up to the cell door and speak with the other prisoner.
- Follow the passage through the secret escape route.
- Meet back with the emperor and continue to follow him.
- Take the Amulet of Kings and exit the sewers.
Deliver the Amulet:
You must deliver the Amulet of Kings to Jauffre in Weynon Priory. Travel to Weynon Priory, near Chorrol.
- Go inside the main entrance, and speak to Jauffre.
Find the Heir:
You must head to Kvatch to find the illegitimate heir to the throne, Martin Septim, true son of Uriel Septim.
- Travel to Kvatch. You can walk, fast travel, or ride there by horse.
- From the Kvatch refugee camp, climb up the hill and speak with Savlian Matius.
- Offer to help close the Oblivion gate.
- Complete the next quest.
- Ask Martin to go with you to Weynon Priory.
Breaking the Siege of Kvatch:
You must help defeat the Daedra invaders and end the siege of Kvatch.
- Talk to Savlian Matius.
- Enter Oblivion. Head for the Blood Feast (the big tower) and make your way up.
- Take the walkway to the Reaper's Sprawl to find the prisoner. Kill his keeper to get the Sigil Keep Key.
- Walk back to the Blood Feast, get to the top, and activate the Sigil Stone. The gate will close and you'll find yourself back in Kvatch.
- Help Savlian clear out the Daedra in the plaza in front of the chapel so the survivors inside can be rescued.
- Talk to Martin and tell him to follow you to Weynon Priory.
The Battle for Castle Kvatch:
Try and save the Count of Kvatch, and rid the city of any remaining Daedra.
- Fight through the Daedra to the castle gates.
- You are sent to Berich Inian, still in the chapel, to collect the key to the guard house.
- Acquire the key, rally your new reinforcements, and make your way through tunnels to get to the gatehouse, where you should open the gates.
- Head to the courtyard, kill the enemies and keep your comrades alive until the area is secure.
- When it's clear, rush the castle, and find the count when Savlian instructs you to.
- Find the count's corpse, and recover his signet ring.
- Return to Savlian Matius with news of the count's death and his ring to finish the quest and receive your reward of the Kvatch Cuirass.
Weynon Priory:
Return to the Priory with Martin.
- Take Martin to Weynon Priory.
- Kill the red robed assassins.
- Run to the chapel and help kill the assassins inside.
- Go with Jauffre and check on the amulet.
- Escort Jauffre and Martin to Cloud Ruler Temple.
The Path of Dawn:
You must return to Baurus in the Imperial City to try to track down the stolen Amulet of Kings.
- Speak to Jauffre about the Amulet of Kings.
- Find Baurus in the Imperial City. Help him defeat a Mythic Dawn assassin, which will give you a mysterious book.
- Track down the rest of the Mythic Dawn Commentaries.
- Book Two can be found at the Arcane University.
- Book Three can be found at First Edition.
- Book Four requires meeting a cultist in the Imperial Sewers, with Baurus.
- The books give you a location where, in turn, you'll learn where the Mythic Dawn sanctuary is.
Dagon Shrine:
Find, and infiltrate, the Mythic Dawn shrine.
- Travel to the Mythic Dawn secret shrine in Lake Arrius Caverns.
- Steal the Mysterium Xarxes.
- Return to Martin in the Great Hall of the Cloud Ruler Temple.
Attack on Fort Sutch
Help a group of soldiers close an Oblivion gate.
- At any time after completing the Dagon Shrine quest, but before completing the Main Quest, travel to Fort Sutch.
- You will find a group of soldiers battling Daedra in front of an Oblivion gate.
- Help the soldiers defeat the Daedra
- Close the Oblivion gate.
Spies:
Track down those that have been spying on Cloud Ruler Temple.
- Ask around about possible "spies."
- Kill the two spies (Jearl and Saveri Faram).
- Search Jearl's basement, and recover the enemy plans.
- Return to Cloud Ruler Temple with the information.
Blood of the Daedra:
Locate a Daedric artifact for Martin.
- Speak with Martin about finding Mankar Camoran; he needs four particular items, the first being a Daedric Artifact.
- Follow Martin's suggestions to learn more about Daedric Artifacts and their possible locations.
- The quest names one Artifact in particular to find and retrieve, however, any Daedric Shrine Artifact will do (it's highly suggested not to use the particular named artifact as well).
- Give Martin the Artifact of your choice, he will need some more time to continue the translation of the Mysterium Xarxes.
Bruma Gate:
Help the Bruma guard close an Oblivion Gate just outside the city.
- Learn from Jauffre that he wants you to help the Bruma guard to close an Oblivion gate.
- Find Captain Burd outside the gates of Bruma, and lead the charge into the gate.
- Make your way to the top of the tower to find the Sigil Key.
- Enter the Sigillum Sanguis and disable the portal.
- Speak to Captain Burd again who will inform you that he no longer requires your assistance; return with the news of your success to Jauffre.
Allies for Bruma:
You are asked to bring in reinforcements for Bruma from the other towns.
- You are sent to request more troops for Captain Burd.
- He tells you to petition the other cities, the guilds, and the Elder Council to send temporary relief troops to Bruma.
- Go to each city, and ask the count of each to "aid Bruma."
- After each city has provided aid, that city's troops will set up camp in Bruma.
Blood of the Divines:
Recover the blood of a god for Martin.
- Talk to Martin and learn of the "blood of the gods".
- Explore the catacombs to find and defeat the undead Blade to learn of his curse.
- Defeat the three remaining undead Blades to free them of the curse.
- Kill the undead Warden to access the rest of the tomb, and watch the Blades' ghosts restore the shrine.
- Obtain the armor, and bring it back to Martin.
Miscarcand:
Recover a Great Welkynd Stone for Martin.
- You are informed of the the third item Martin needs, a Great Welkynd Stone.
- Travel to the ruins of Miscarcand.
- Explore the ruins for the Great Welkynd Stone.
- Choose to fight or flee from the King of Miscarcand.
- Return the stone to Martin.
The Defense of Bruma:
Open a Great Oblivion Gate outside of Bruma.
- Ask Martin about the Great Sigil Stone.
- Escort Martin, Jauffre and Baurus to the Chapel of Talos.
- Speak with the Countess in Castle Bruma.
- Make your way to the battlefield and eliminate all advancing Daedra.
- Keep Martin alive long enough, then enter the Great Gate.
Great Gate:
A time limited quest to find the Great Sigil Stone and close the gate before a Daedric siege engine enters Tamriel!
- You have 15 minutes to complete this quest.
- Enter the Great Gate and make your way to the World Breaker (the main tower).
- Ascend the World Breaker tower to the Sigillum Sanguis.
- Take the Great Sigil Stone to close the gate.
- Return the stone to Martin.
Paradise:
Enter Mankar's Paradise, and retrieve the Amulet of Kings.
- Enter the portal to Mankar Camoran's Paradise.
- Obtain the "Bands of the Chosen" by killing Kathutet or completing a quick task for him.
- Complete another quick task for Eldamil to remove the Bands.
- Follow the path to Carac Agaialor.
- Kill Mankar Camoran and loot his body for the Amulet of Kings.
- Teleport back to the Cloud Ruler Temple with the Amulet of Kings.
Light the Dragonfires:
Escort Martin to the Temple of the One...but will you be able to crown him Emperor?
- Escort Martin to the Imperial Palace.
- Lead Martin, Ocato, and guardsmen outside to combat the Daedra.
- Catch sight of Mehrunes Dagon, and your journal will update.
- Run to the temple and watch as Martin turns into an avatar of Akatosh and battles Lord Dagon.
- Ocato names you the Champion of Cyrodiil.
Imperial Dragon Armor:
Receive your reward for saving the world.
- Talk to Ocato to be told that your reward for saving the world is a suit of Imperial Dragon Armor.
- Wait for two weeks.
- Go to the Imperial Legion Armory in the Imperial Prison District and pick up your armor.
