Quake Live

Game information:

Quake Live (formerly known as Quake Zero) is a first-person shooter video game project from id Software announced in 2007. It is said that it is very much focusing on the multiplayer aspect of the game, so as to nudge the game into succeeding its predecessor Quake III Arena as a "major league" FPS eSports competition game. It will be released as a free version of Quake III Gold launched via a web browser. Quake Live will be backed financially by in-game advertising from IGA Worldwide. Skill-based matchmaking will be powered by a "metagame engine" developed by GaimTheory. Quake live is currently in beta testing. The quake live website has an email signup for beta testers wishing to play. The trailer claims to support 30 maps. During the Quakecon 2008 keynote, John Carmack stated that Quake Live would have no mod support but will be continually updated and may include officially approved user-made maps. On the newly launched website (August 1, 2008) Quake Live is claimed to have over 30 maps and 4 different game modes.
